It is often said that our youth is our future. But Youth Ministry calls for passion, patience, and faithfulness – pointing out the sacred in the midst of the chaos of adolescence and walking faithfully with young people as they transition from child to young adult. Youth Ministry is a bridging ministry of education, connection, formation, and hopefully, transformation.
Responding to the spiritual needs of teens is about building trusting relationships. The Episcopal Church strives to walk with young people on their journeys from childhood to adulthood, recognizing their gifts for ministry, their questions about spirituality, and their desire to make a difference in the world. The MCBC Youth Ministry is grounded in the Five Marks of Mission and the Baptismal Covenant, building churchwide networks to invite, inspire, affirm, and equip youth for discipleship and Christian leadership in their lives and their communities.
For our middle schoolers, we walk through the Bible with the Bible-in-Life curriculum, which provides a variety of activities for engaging in the scriptures. Our high schoolers follow a process of sharing what is going on in their lives and discussing current events in their world, as well as the day’s sermon.
Calvary Youth Fellowship (CYF)
Our Sunday evening youth program involving a meal, a game, and Bible study. This is a fun, loosely structured time for young people to get to know each other and learn about God in a relaxed environment.
Every other year, our youth participate in the confirmation process. It is a series of classes and excursions which culminate in the youth becoming official members of the church. Confirmation is open to all youth.
