What We Believe
Articles of Faith
Mount Calvary Baptist Church
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is a historic, Christ-centered, Bible-believing congregation committed to lifting the name of Jesus, equipping believers, and reaching the unchurched of Orange County and beyond. These Articles of Faith express what we believe, teach, and practice.
The Holy Scriptures
2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105; John 17:17
We believe the Holy Bible—both Old and New Testaments—is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the foundation for our faith, doctrine, preaching, worship, and daily living.
The True & Living God
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19
The True and Living God
We believe in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is perfect in holiness, justice, wisdom, and love.
God the Father
Genesis 1:1; Psalm 103:19; Ephesians 4:6
God the Father
We believe the Father is Creator and Sustainer of all things. He reigns with providential care over His universe and hears the prayers of His people.
God the Son — Jesus Christ
John 1:1–14; Luke 24:5–7; Acts 1:11
God the Son — Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, sinless, and full of grace and truth. He died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and is coming again in glory.
God the Holy Spirit
John 16:7–13; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13–14
God the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, indwells every Christian, and empowers the church for ministry, worship, and holy living.
Humanity & Sin
Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12
Humanity & Sin
We believe all people are created in the image of God yet have fallen into sin and are separated from Him. Only through Christ can humanity be restored.
Salvation
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 5:1; John 3:16
Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, believers are justified, forgiven, adopted into God’s family, and given eternal life.
Regeneration
(The New Birth)
John 3:3–7; 2 Corinthians 5:17
Regeneration
(The New Birth)
We believe that regeneration is a work of the Holy Spirit that transforms the believer into a new creation in Christ. It is essential for entrance into the Kingdom of God.
The Church
Acts 2:41–47; Ephesians 4:11–16
The Church
We believe Mount Calvary Baptist Church is part of the universal body of Christ and is a local assembly of baptized believers called to worship, discipleship, fellowship, service, and mission.
Baptism
Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3–5; Matthew 28:19
Baptism
We believe baptism is an ordinance commanded by Christ. It is administered by immersion as a public testimony of the believer’s faith, symbolizing death to sin and new life in Christ.
The Lord’s Supper
1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Luke 22:19–20
The Lord’s Supper
We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred ordinance reminding believers of Christ’s sacrifice. As a body, we observe the Supper in unity until He returns.
Christian Living & Sanctification
Romans 12:1–2; Galatians 5:22–25; 1 Peter 1:15–16
Christian Living & Sanctification
We believe believers are called to grow in holiness, prayer, obedience, stewardship, love, and service through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Great Commission
Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 1:8
The Great Commission
We believe Mount Calvary is called to evangelize the lost, make disciples, minister to the needs of our community, and shine the light of Christ in Orange County and beyond.
The Resurrection and Final Judgment
John 5:28–29; Revelation 20:11–15
The Resurrection and Final Judgment
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved. Believers will enter eternal life with God; unbelievers will face eternal separation. Christ will return as Judge and King.
Marriage & the Family
Colossians 1:18; Acts 13:1–3
Marriage & the Family
We believe Mount Calvary Baptist Church governs itself under the Lordship of Christ. We joyfully collaborate with associations, conventions, and ministries for kingdom work, but our authority rests in Christ and His Word.
The Autonomy of the Local Church
Colossians 1:18; Acts 13:1–3
The Autonomy of the Local Church
We believe Mount Calvary Baptist Church governs itself under the Lordship of Christ. We joyfully collaborate with associations, conventions, and ministries for kingdom work, but our authority rests in Christ and His Word.
Religious Liberty
Romans 14:4; Matthew 22:21
Religious Liberty
We believe every person has the freedom to worship God responsibly according to Scripture. The church and state should remain separate but cooperative for the good of society.

John 5:28–29; Revelation 20:11–15
We believe we are called to be a church that: Builds disciples through strong biblical teaching; Reaches the unchurched of Orange County with love and compassion; Equips members through spiritual growth and service; Honors our historic legacy while advancing God’s kingdom by faith
